CLASS FEE: $185
Students will learn to disassemble, clean, make minor repairs, reassemble, oil and adjust an American kitchen clock. Students who do not have a kitchen clock will be provided one for a nominal cost. They are readily available and are not expensive. Students will receive specialty clock tools and oilers at no additional cost. The class will be taught by AGSEM Members who are enrolled in the NAWCC and volunteer to maintain the clock and watch exhibit at AGSEM. No previous Clock repair skills required. Required: Students will need to bring the following:

Are you interested in the fascinating world of timekeeping and not sure where to start? If you like history you can hold in your hand or maybe want to get into the hobby of watchmaking or want to meet people who are knowledgeable and passionate, NAWCC and Chapter 180 is here for you. Chapter 180 of the NAWCC is the local chapter as well as the caretaker of the West Coast Clock and Watch Museum, located in Vista, CA aboard the beautiful Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum. As such, Chapter 180 is unique in location and mission to introduce and educate people with a budding interest in horology. Come join us for a fascinating journey into the history of timekeeping and build a mechanical wristwatch, unique to you with our talented and passionate team of volunteers from the local area. This will be a lecture and discussion of key advancements in timekeeping throughout history for new members of NAWCC. The historical discussion will lead into assembling a mechanical wristwatch. This is intended for first time watch builders who are interested in joining the exciting hobby of clock and watch maintenance, modification and building. Skill level is beginner, age 15 and above. Participants should have a basic understanding of using hand tools (righty tighty, lefty loosey), the ability to focus and follow instructions, but no prior experience is necessary. Experienced members will be there to assist in every step along the way.
