Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat are our hours of operation? We are open for Self Guided Tours Wednesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We do not have Docents available for every day we are open. We do have demonstrators that come in on Saturdays that will happily answer your questions. The Weavers and Spinners are the only demonstrators that come in during the week, but they are only here on Thursdays. When do the engines run?Our engines normally only run during events, you can check out our Calendar of Events by clicking here. When do we have demonstrators available? On Saturdays we have the Blacksmiths, Weavers, Spinners, Clock & Watch Exhibit and the Model Railroad Building open. We have the Blacksmiths working at their forges between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The Weavers and Spinners are in their respective barns between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Then the Model Railroad Building is open to tour between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Finally, our Clock & Watch Museum Exhibit in the Assembly Building is open with a docent between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The Weavers and Spinners are also in on Thursdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Other than that, we don't normally have demonstrators on Non Event Days.
When is the best time to bring kids?Saturdays are usually the best day, because we have the most demonstrators those days. The Blacksmiths have classes on Saturdays, so you can watch they train others how to forge steel. The Weavers and Spinners gather to perfect their craft and will happily show others what they're doing. The Model Trains have several models and displays in their building and activities for kids to do.
Can we ride the train? We do have a small model train on our property but it only runs for Special Events. It does not run on Non Event Days.
What if I want to bring a group (10+) to tour the Museum?
If you would prefer a docent, please call at least 2 weeks in advance so we can arrange one for you.
